Personalized therapy for chronic pain
For more mobility, fewer complaints and a better quality of life
Chronic pain is complex - it often arises from an interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. Our goal at MWS Physio is to understand these connections and work with you to find a solution that not only alleviates symptoms but also sustainably improves your quality of life.
We utilize a holistic, evidence-based approach that combines modern physiotherapy, targeted training, pain education, and supportive measures such as therapeutic massage. At the heart of our work is the MWS Score, developed from scratch by Matthias Straub - an analysis and monitoring tool that makes progress measurable and guides each treatment individually.
Our specializations in the area of chronic pain:
Musculoskeletal pain
Targeted treatment for muscles, joints and spine
Chronic problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments or joints can arise from overload, incorrect loading, degenerative changes or old injuries.
Common examples are:
-
Back pain and disc problems
-
Osteoarthritis or arthritis
-
Chronic muscle tension
-
Shoulder, hip or knee pain
Our approach:
-
Individual assessment with MWS score and functional analysis
-
Manual therapy for mobilization and pain relief
-
Targeted strength and stabilization training to relieve pressure on affected structures
-
Therapeutic massages (sports massage, medical-therapeutic, relaxing) to relieve tension and promote regeneration
-
Pain education: We explain how pain arises and how you can actively influence it
Your advantage: You receive a therapy that not only treats symptoms, but also addresses the causes - for long-term freedom of movement.
Pain after an accident or operation
Safely back on the move - step by step
After an accident or surgery, pain can persist even after the original injury has healed. This pain is often associated with restricted movement, protective postures, and muscle atrophy.
Typical areas of application:
-
Postoperative pain after joint replacement or arthroscopy
-
Persistent discomfort after bone fractures or ligament tears
-
Scar and tissue pain
Our approach:
-
Early phase: Gentle mobilization, pain relief, swelling reduction
-
Build-up phase: Restoration of mobility, strength and coordination
-
Return to activity: increasing exercise load, sport-specific training, prevention of relapses
-
Interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians and surgeons for optimal coordination
Your advantage: We accompany you from the first step after surgery to your full return to everyday life, work, or sport - with a clear, measurable plan.

Neuropathic and neurological pain & rare pain disorders
Specialized therapy for diseases of the nervous system and complex pain syndromes
Neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, or the consequences of a stroke can cause chronic pain and restricted mobility. Home visits
Physiotherapy in your own home - personal, professional, flexible
If you can't come to us, we'll come to you in Wettingen and Birsfelden. Whether in your home, a nursing home, or an assisted living facility: you'll receive the same quality of care as in our practice - just where you feel most comfortable.
Home visits are an established service in Switzerland and are recognized by health insurance companies when prescribed by a doctor. They enable continuous, high-quality treatment even when mobility or health conditions make it difficult to visit the doctor's office.
For whom are home visits particularly suitable?
People with limited mobility
-
After surgeries such as hip or knee replacement
-
After injuries (e.g., fractures, ligament tears) with reduced load-bearing capacity
-
With chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or neurological limitations

With acute pain that makes walking or sitting difficult
Benefit: You don’t need to organise transport - we bring therapy to you and adapt it to your home environment.
Neurological patients
-
Multiple sclerosis (MS)
